XXL Magazine Fonts - Wreck Effect + more
To introduce their 2016 Freshman Class, XXL Magazine used no fewer than four hand-picked fonts from the BLKBK catalogue on their front cover: Hand Book, After Hours, Jive Talk, and Wreck Effect. The issue hit the stands on June 28th and can still be seen on their website.
What fonts does XXL Magazine use?
XXL Magazine’s motto: "Hip Hop on a higher level". Founded in 1997 and published by Townsquare Media, XXL is an American hip hop magazine whose first issue featured a double cover of rappers Jay-Z and Master P. Since then, XXL has released many special projects such as mix-tapes, exclusive DVDs, and tour programs. Their website provides daily hip hop news and content from their magazine. XXL as been releasing an annual Freshman Class list since 2007.
Each of these lists features the ten new or upcoming rappers that are not yet widely known but who show great promise. The Freshman Class list has become a much discussed and anticipated issue, credited with giving many now-known artists their first taste of fame. Some big rap stars who’ve received early-career boosts from XXL Magazine include Mac Miller, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, and Chance the Rapper.
